No. Rotation in an in-browser PDF engine is a metadata flag — the PDF tells the viewer to display the page at a given angle, but the underlying page content is not rewritten or re-rendered. The file size stays effectively identical (a few bytes of metadata difference at most), text remains selectable, links keep working, and embedded fonts and images are untouched. The page dimensions swap when you rotate 90 or 270 degrees (a portrait page becomes landscape in display), but the internal MediaBox swaps too, so printers and exporters handle it correctly. This is much better than rotating by rasterizing the page to an image and rotating the image, which would inflate file size and lose searchability. Rotate freely without worrying about quality degradation.

Clockwise turns the top of the page to the right (a portrait page becomes landscape with its original top now on the right side). Counter-clockwise turns the top of the page to the left. They are exact opposites — applying both cancels out. For a page that is sideways with its original top on the right (a common scanner mishap), use 90 counter-clockwise to bring the top back up. For a page sideways with its top on the left, use 90 clockwise. If you cannot tell which way is which from a thumbnail, just try one — if it ends up upside down, apply 180; if it ends up still sideways, you used the wrong 90 direction. There is no save penalty for repeated rotations because rotation is metadata, not pixels.

Yes. The tool supports per-page rotation, so a single document can have page 1 at 0 degrees, page 2 at 90, and page 3 at 180, all in one save. This is essential for documents made up of mixed scans — a contract where page 1 is portrait but page 2 was scanned in landscape, for example. Select the pages, apply the rotation, select a different set, apply a different rotation, repeat as needed, then save once. The thumbnails update live so you can confirm each page looks right before saving. There is no limit on how many distinct rotations a single document can contain — every page can be at a different angle if needed. Files stay text-searchable throughout.

Some older PDF viewers and printers ignore the PDF rotation flag and render the page as if it were not rotated. If you need a PDF that prints correctly on all hardware, you may need to permanently bake in the rotation by rasterizing the page (converting it to an image at the rotated orientation). Rotate PDF intentionally avoids that path because it destroys text searchability, but if you have an unusual printer that ignores rotation metadata, the workaround is to convert the page to a high-resolution PNG using PDF to PNG, then convert the PNG back to PDF using PNG to PDF. The result will print correctly everywhere but will no longer be searchable text — a tradeoff worth making only if rotation issues persist.

Form fields stay attached to their pages and rotate with them, so a text input in the top-right of a portrait page ends up in the top-right of the rotated landscape view. Annotations (sticky notes, highlights) move correctly too. Digital signatures will appear in their original positions but will report as invalid after rotation, because signatures cover the entire file byte sequence. If you need to rotate a signed document, the signer must re-sign the rotated copy. Rotate before signing whenever possible. The tool does not warn before invalidating signatures — checking for digital signatures and prompting users is on the roadmap. For now, treat rotation as an early-stage cleanup step, not a finishing step.

Type the range, choose the angle, and the selected pages rotate together. This is much faster than clicking individual thumbnails when you need to rotate a whole section. For huge documents, combine range input with All pages: rotate everything first, then select a few exceptions and rotate them back. Saves a lot of clicking on 500-page jobs.
